Few graduate teaching programs offer courses in brain structure and function. That is unfortunate, because while neurophysiology and education would appear to be vastly different fields of endeavor, research on the brain has yielded results that can be directly applied in the teaching process (Caine & Caine, 1992).

One suspects most educators would welcome information explaining how to maximize the brain activity of their students to the exclusion of all potential distractions for purposes of creating a unified class focus.  Being able to enlist the orientative, emotional and cognitive-associative faculties all at once could produce a virtually Utopian didactic atmosphere.

I’m sure many of you have heard this proverb before, it has been an inspiration for involved teachers around the world. Teachers who want to move beyond just telling their students information but helping them interact with knowledge, understand it completely and, most importantly, enjoy the learning process.

Sometimes, however, it can be difficult to really engage student learning and involve them in the concepts being taught.

Make Reviewing Math an Interactive Game PDF Print E-mail

Reviewing math as an activity can sound extremely boring and uninspiring. In some peoples minds it could rank up there with folding laundry and washing dishes - something that is not very enjoyable, but inherently needs to be done.

Nevertheless, since we are aware of the importance of reviewing the various math standards and concepts that have been taught to our students throughout the year, why not attempt to make the review process as pleasant and enjoyable as possible?

In my opinion, when it comes to reviewing material the students have already learned and are decently proficient with, turning the activity into a game/fun activity will work wonders for participation and effort.
